Earlier today, we brought you claims made by Marca that James Rodríguez is ‘one step away’ from joining Everton.
It was also explained the Real Madrid player’s signing is a ‘personal request’ of Carlo Ancelotti.
Spanish newspaper AS has now backed the claims made by Marca, and they also state the 29-year-old is ‘one step away’ from signing for the Toffees.
It’s claimed ‘his destination would be Everton’, where he’ll be offered a three-year contract.
The Colombia international played under Ancelotti at both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Therefore, it’s no surprise the Italian is the ‘main supporter’ for his arrival at the Merseyside club.
Ancelotti tried to sign the attacker for Napoli last summer, but he failed in his efforts.
However, according to report, the same won’t happen this time around as Rodríguez is expected to join the Premier League side.
The South American has 104 goals and 125 assists in 388 matches. AS state Rodríguez will arrive at Goodison Park with a ‘wealth of experience behind him’.
Marca earlier reported a deal could be concluded for about €25m or €30m. AS, on the other hand, don’t mention the fee Everton will pay to acquire Rodríguez’s services.
