Everton have made an offer to Granada goalkeeper Rui Silva, who will be available on a free transfer in the summer.
That’s according to Ideal and Mundo Deportivo, who say the Blues are keen to sign the Portuguese goalkeeper.
Jordan Pickford is the current Everton number one, but the England stopper has had yet another disappointing campaign, with several high profile mistakes bringing his future into question.
It is believed that the Blues need to find a better long-term solution than the former Sunderland man and reports in Spain say they have set their sights on Silva.
Ideal state that they have put a ‘very important proposal’ on the table for the goalkeeper, who is in the final six months of his deal and available on a free in the summer.
Mundo Deportivo back this up and say that they are ‘more than determined’ to secure his signature, labelling the goalkeeper as ‘one of the best’ in La Liga.
What their offer is, isn’t mentioned, but their interest stems from the fact that they won’t have to pay a transfer fee.
Silva, for his part, isn’t committing to anyone. His plan is to end the season in Los Cármenes and then go from there.
Granada are working to try and keep him at the club, but Mundo states that seems ‘highly unlikely’ with the player’s performances having made him a ‘sweetheart’ for clubs with greater economic potential and sporting aspirations than his current one.
Whether he ends up at Everton remains to be seen, though, with a whole host of clubs around Europe interested in signing the goalkeeper when he becomes available.
