Porto striker Luis Diaz was last night’s hero in the 1-0 win over AC Milan in the Champions League, as he scored the Dragons’ winner in a very difficult game.

Increasingly hyped since being top scorer at the Copa America, the Colombian star started this season for his club very well too, as he’s already scored seven goals so far.

And for those who recall that Everton were linked to 24-year-old in the summer, there’s some interesting information from Portugal in that regard.

As reported by newspaper O Jogo, the Toffees were one of the clubs who had scouts at the Estádio do Dragão last night, and watched Diaz’s performance from close.

The striker had already hit the post in the first half, and in the 65th minute, hit a shot in the bottom corner, leaving no chance for Ciprian Tatarusanu.

Everton’s chase for Diaz in the summer had been so strong that even Porto manager Sérgio Conceição was asked about the striker’s potential departure, and ended up cooling things down by claiming the market was ‘very calm’.

Later on, it was claimed that James Rodriguez was included in the offer that arrived from Merseyside, and since the Dragons had no interest in having the midfielder back, the talks stalled.

Still, the links didn’t stop there, as the local media was still talking about the Toffees’ chase this month, with Correio da Manhã claiming €50m would be enough to start negotiating a move to the Goodison Park.

Now in case Diaz continues to shine in Europe, we can only expect that price to grow.
