With Everton scouting several matches from the Portuguese league this season, they couldn’t miss the most decisive game of the year.
Scouts from the Toffees are at the Estádio da Luz tonight watching Benfica’s match against Santa Clara, according to the local press.
It’s Sapo who reports the club’s presence at the game, since the Merseyside club are part of the list of those who asked for accreditations.
Although Sapo points out some of the targets which other clubs have, they don’t seem to know who the Toffees are watching tonight.
Benfica only need a draw to win the Portuguese league. Only if they lose and Porto win their game against Sporting, the Dragons would get the trophy.
It’s currently 3-0, so it’s looking good.
Everton have watched several Benfica games this season, despite not being heavily linked to any of their players. One of the most recent rumours was about an interest in left-back Grimaldo, which was later dismissed by the Portuguese press.
Back at the end of 2018, Andrija Zivkovic was said to be a target, but things went silent since then. He’s recently been out of the team and isn’t even on the bench for tonight’s game.
