Napoli’s Manolo Gabbiadini has been heavily linked with a move to Everton and West Ham in the past few days, well, for months really.
The Italian forward was reportedly a target for Everton during the summer transfer window, and rumours suggest the Merseyside club could revive their interest in the near future.
Gabbiadini’s agent, Silvio Pagliari, has been speaking to Rai Sport (via Tutto Mercato Web), and has revealed the Napoli man rejected a move to Everton during the summer transfer window.
Pagliari insists he had a discussion about a new contract with Napoli, after rejecting a move to Everton, but it’s ‘frozen’ now.
He said: “After refusing the offer from Everton. He was called to renew and adapt his contract by Cristiano Guintoli. But now it’s stopped, everything is frozen for now.”
His agent also revealed they’ll be evaluating his situation in the coming months, when asked about a possible sale.
He said: “It makes sense that we cannot be in heaven in spite of the saints, we will see what to do in the coming months.”
Asked about the interest from Everton and the possibility of the Premier League side returning for him in January, Pagliari believes it’s too early to talk about it.
He added: “It’s premature to talk about it, there are many matches from here to January, but the form is not best suited to the boy.”
Gabbiadini has a contract until 2019 at Napoli, and hasn’t been playing regularly so Everton might get another chance to tempt him to England should they retain their interest in him.
It’s not the first time the player’s agent has spoken about Everton, and maybe he’s trying to send a hint Ronald Koeman and co.
