Everton have been told they will need to pay €40m for Napoli midfielder Allan if they wish to sign him this summer.
The Blues are known to be in the hunt for a new central midfielder this summer, the position having been a problem one for them for several years.
Allan is a player who has been heavily linked since the beginning of the year, with numerous reports claiming that he is Carlo Ancelotti’s number one target for his midfield.
There were several reports in January that Everton had made a bid and were trying to reunite the midfielder with the Italian coach and, while a move never happened, it’s widely been claimed that they would revive their interest in the summer.
And according to Il Mattino, quoted by Casa Napoli, that is very much the case. They say that Allan is Ancelotti’s ‘express wish’ this summer and the club already have an ‘offer ready’ for him.
Napoli are willing to sell, but Aurelio de Laurentiis has placed a €40m asking price on the Brazilian’s head, and that will have to be met for any deal to happen.
That’s a price we’ve seen quoted elsewhere over the last few months, so that makes sense, although it’s a price Everton are unlikely to pay for a 29-year-old who’s just endured a poor season, to say the least.
They’ll want to negotiate that down as much as possible and, given those mediocre performances and Allan’s deteriorating relationship with Napoli, perhaps Aurelio de Laurentiis could be willing to negotiate a little bit.
