Everton are monitoring Roma centre back Gianluca Mancini ahead of a possible move in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Leggo, who say the Blues, alongside Inter Milan, have expressed an interest in the 24-year-old.
They explain that Mancini has impressed for Roma this season, forming part of an Italian spine in the team that is helping Paulo Fonseca’s side push for Champions League qualification.
The centre-back has been among the impressive of the Italian quartet, with it explained he has ‘snatched the Ministry of Defence’ from fellow centre-back Chris Smalling.
He was recently on top form in the 3-0 win over Udinese with a performance that demonstrated his development has ‘come to fruition’.
This is also evidenced by the fact other clubs have started to take an interest in him, with Everton and Inter said to be engaged in ‘courtships’.
Quite what that means isn’t made clear, but we’re reading it as the two clubs showing an interest in the centre back in some way or other.
Why Everton would be is a mystery given they’re set for centre-backs, with Michael Keane, Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey already on the books.
Indeed, the only reason they would be moving for someone like Mancini is if one of that quartet were to be leaving, which at this moment in time seems unlikely.
That could change, though, and if it does, expect Mancini’s name to appear once again, with him apparently a player Everton are very much interested in.
