Everton striker Moise Kean has ‘convinced himself’ to make a move to Serie A side Roma this summer.
Kean joined Everton in a £30m deal from Juventus last summer in a move that many considered to be a significant coup for the Blues.
However, his time in England has not been a happy one so far, with him managing just one goal in Royal Blue so far.
There have been numerous suggestions that he could make a quick return to Italy and he was heavily linked with a move to Roma in the January transfer window.
That never happened, but, according to Calcio Mercato, Kean is determined to secure the move and ‘can’t wait’ to return to Italy.
They explain that the striker has decided to choose Roma as his next club, with his agent, Mino Raiola, having discussed a possible move with the club in January.
He would be able to link up with international teammate Nicolò Zaniolo at the club, who are open to doing a deal as they believe ‘meets other requirements’.
The ‘stumbling block’ to any move would Everton’s asking price. They won’t accept anything less than the €28m they paid last summer, an amount it seems Roma wouldn’t be able to afford.
Instead, Calcio Mercato speculate that a ‘negotiation could develop’ for a loan deal with a purchase option included instead.
However, that seems unlikely. Everton have great faith in Kean and, while his first season has been disappointing, there is still a belief he will come good.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti is undoubtedly a fan of his compatriot, and there’s little sense in them giving up on him at this point, particularly if they’re not going to make their money back.
The only way a move may happen is if Kean or Raiola pushed for it but given the 20-year-old recently claimed on Instagram that he was happy at Goodison Park, that also seems unlikely to happen.
