There was a time when Everton were reportedly interested in Matias Vecino, who is currently contracted to Inter.
The Uruguayan midfielder was seemingly on his way out of the Serie A club, but no transfer ever took place, with him eventually staying into the final year of his contract.
With his deal expiring in June, Inter are now trying to find him an early landing spot, and Everton are back in the mix of clubs, alongside Leicester City in the Premier League.
This comes from Calciomercato in Italy, who explain that Inter and Vecino’s agent, Alessandro Lucci, ‘are probing different tracks’ and have decided to offer the player both in Serie A and abroad.
For the latter, it’s saiid ‘Real Betis, Everton and Leicester are in pole position’, with Roma and Lazio on the list of potential inter-league destinations.
Not only that, but it’s explained that Inter are looking ‘for the possibility of an exchange with players who are in the same situation’.
While Inter are keen on Lucas Digne, who is out of favour at Everton, he doesn’t fit into that category, and unless they are interested in Leicester’s Daniel Amartey, which doesn’t appear to be the case, then the Foxes don’t have anyone for them either.
Still, it’s something to potentially think about if Brendan Rodgers and Rafa Benitez indeed are keen on Vecino, with the former of the two reportedly already ‘having moved’ for the midfielder on Tuesday.
