Josh King’s move to Everton could be the ‘kickstart’ his career needs, although he may need time to get going at the club.
That’s according to TV2 expert Jesper Mathisen, who has faith the forward will be a hit at Goodison Park.
King completed a move to Everton on deadline day of the January transfer window, with the Blues paying a nominal fee to bring him in from Bournemouth.
He’s signed a six-month deal with the Toffees, although that can be extended in the summer if both parties are happy with how things have progressed.
Whether he can be a success on Merseyside remains to be seen, with many doubting he’ll make much of an impact at Everton given he managed no goals in 12 games for Bournemouth in the Championship this season.
Indeed, it’s been a difficult time for King since he saw a move to Manchester United fail in the summer, but Mathisen believes the move to Everton may be the spark he needs.
“I think this is what it takes to kickstart King’s career,” he told TV2.
“He probably needs some time before he is back at his best level. He’s been very far down for a while now.
“After the Manchester United transfer chance took place a year ago, most things have gone wrong for him.
“He has moved down with Bournemouth, become a reserve on the national team and now he needed a bright spot. I have faith in this transfer.”
