Everton are evaluating whether to make a move for Mexico full-back Jorge Sánchez after his impressive performances at the Olympics.
That’s according to Goal Spain, who cover the situation and the Toffees reported interest in the full-back.
Everton are on the hunt for a new right-back this summer as they need a long-term replacement for Seamus Coleman.
They are keen on PSV Eindhoven’s Denzel Dumfries, but a lack of money and wiggle room due to FFP means that they cannot do a deal for the Dutchman as yet.
Indeed, he may end up at Inter Milan, and so it’s believed the Toffees are looking at alternative options to fill their right-back needs.
One would be Sánchez, who has been impressing with Mexico at this summer’s Olympic Games.
Everton have subsequently been linked with a move, and Goal back those claims up, stating that the Blues ‘would be interested’ in Sánchez.
At the minute, they are yet to make a move, and everything remains ‘a mere observation’ without a formal proposal or talks.
Everton are evaluating the player, though, and whether they want to progress with a potential transfer after his recent displays.
They are not the only ones who have been impressed either, with ‘a good number of scouts’ keeping their eye on his performances.
Everton are the only ones specifically named, though, which suggests they are at the front of the queue at this point.
