Everton are ‘interested’ in AS Roma’s Gonzalo Villar, according to reports from Italy.
The 23-year-old arrived at the Italian capital club in 2020 and was a regular in his debut season at the Stadio Olimpico.
Under Paulo Fonseca’s orders, the midfielder made 47 appearances in all competitions last term. José Mourinho replaced his compatriot in the summer and the ex-Chelsea boss’ arrival has seen the Spaniard struggle for minutes this campaign.
Villar has been restricted to only 82 minutes of action across three matches and is yet to make an appearance in the league.
According to Calciomercato, the player is ‘out of the plans’ of the Portuguese tactician. Luckily for Villar, there is a club that ‘want him in January’.
The Toffees, as per the report, are that club and Rafael Benítez’s side are ‘thinking’ about the midfielder for the winter market.
There’s no mention whether the Merseyside club are interested in signing Villar on a loan deal or if they plan to buy him when the transfer window opens at the start of next year.
