Everton are interested in Sassuolo youngster Davide Frattesi after receiving a personal recommendation from manager Carlo Ancelotti.

That’s according to Forza Roma, who say the youngster is attracting plenty of interest after an impressive season on loan with Empoli in Serie B.

The website report that Roma are keen to bring the 20-year-old back to the club, after selling him to Sassuolo for £4.5m in 2017, as they consider him as Daniele De Rossi’s ‘protégé.’

They had looked to make the move happen last summer after he impressed at the Under-20 European Championship and were in contact with his agent and Sassuolo.

That never happened as the club judged the €10m asking price to be ‘excessive’ and he instead went to Empoli where he has continued to grow and attracted ‘a lot of attention’.

Some of that attention is coming from Everton, with Ancelotti recommending the youngster to their scouts and them sending positive reports back to Goodison Park.

Their interest, as well as that from Juventus, could ‘complicate’ Roma’s talks with Sassuolo, although at the minute Gianluca Petrachi is in no hurry to get a deal done yet.

That would suggest Everton’s interest isn’t close to becoming anything serious yet, but he is a signing that would make plenty of sense.

They need a midfielder and have made signing young, affordable talent they can develop into stars themselves, and Frattesi fits perfectly into that bracket.
