Last year, Celtic’s Alexandro Bernabei was on loan at SC Internacional and is set to leave Brendan Rodgers’ side permanently.

Internacional president Alessandro Barcellos and vice-president José Olavo Bisol have both confirmed talks with Celtic to buy the 24-year-old.

On January 10th, ESPN stated the Brazilian club have reached an agreement with Celtic for €4.5m plus a potential €500,000 in bonuses. They also reported the left-back will travel to carry out medical tests at the start of this week.

The deal to take the Argentine to the South American club has still not gone through, but the Celtic man has travelled to Brazil. That’s at least what Revista Colorada are reporting, and they state Bernabei was ‘spotted’ in Porto Alegre to complete transfer.

The outlet have also relayed comments made by José Olavo Bisol to Vozes do Gigante. He revealed there’s ‘still obstacles to be agreed upon’ to confirm the signing of the Celtic defender.

According to the Internacional vice-president, they have several details that need to be sorted out with Brendan Rodgers’ side and the 24-year-old’s agent.

“I’ll tell you what I’m guessing, because I don’t know the agent’s feelings, that in his opinion the adjustments that have yet to be made to this contract are simple,” he said.

“A business relationship, in order to reach a fine, simple adjustment, goes through a series of barriers. Contract time, formatting, whether it’s a purchase or a loan, percentage or not, how much percentage, payment method.

“Firstly, value is established. Payment method. The agent’s commission. A series of details. So, you overcome the negotiating relationships, the barriers.

“What the agent perhaps understands, I’m interpreting, is that we’ve overcome all these barriers, and now it’s perhaps simple adjustments, the finer ones. That’s not why the anxiety of the delay, the anxiety that the fans feel, can be the keynote of our business relations.”

It feels like all parties are in favour of the move and are finalising the details of the Celtic exit, whilst making sure they all get their cut.
