Grab the popcorn everyone, because this little war of words between Serge Aurier and Jérôme Rothen looks like it could go on for a while.

For those who haven’t followed, it all started when the Tottenham right-back said he wouldn’t mind returning to Paris Saint-Germain, the club of his heart, later on in his career.

Rothen, who also used to play for the Ligue 1 champions (before they were very rich), laughed that off, feeling the Tottenham defender was just saying that because he knew there would be an appealing paycheque to go with a return.

As you might have guessed, that didn’t sit well with Aurier, who had a little go at the former midfielder, saying he could reveal some stuff the ex-Monaco player had done at PSG, and that he didn’t exactly have a ‘clean record’ either.

This all the while trying to defend his Periscope incident, explaining he didn’t really know what the app was at the time and didn’t know people were watching.

That’s about the gist of it, and now Rothen has fired back on RMC, relayed by Made In Foot, and he didn’t hold back.

He said: “You have to stop with the crazy talk. You do a Periscope, even if you don’t know it, you learn it will be put online. Honestly, he’s even dumber than I thought. Sorry, but it’s nonsense.

“He says I don’t have a clean record, but I’d like to know what I did at PSG? Tell me… If he’s simply talking about the explanations I had with fans during a short period of time or of my spat with Guy Lacombe, it’s completely different, because I’ve never ratted on anyone in my club.”

Remember folks, for the best popcorn results, take it out of the microwave when the popping slows to two to three seconds between each pop, and be careful, that bag is hot!
