Italian outlet Calcio Mercato this week features a piece explaining what happened in a meeting between Juventus director Federico Cherubini and the entourage of Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.
It’s claimed that once again, the player’s staff ‘reaffirmed’ his wish of returning to Italy.
Jorginho is not thought to be desperate about leaving Chelsea, as he has an ‘excellent’ salary there and his stay would also allow him to leave for free next year.
Still, with Juventus also looking to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United this summer, adding the Brazilian to the midfield would allow them to enter the Champions League ‘as protagonists’ this year already.
Calcio Mercato points out that Inter Milan had also been interested in the Chelsea player, but they renewed Marcelo Brozovic’s contract. Since the Croatian stayed, Juventus are basically alone in the race.
It’s worth pointing out that just last week, Jorginho’s agent had made it clear that the player’s priority would be to renew his deal with Chelsea. Now in case he really did meet with Juventus, it’s all getting a little contradictory.
