AFC Bournemouth have identified Cagliari youngster Etienne Catena as a transfer target for the summer window.

That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who state the 20-year-old is a concrete idea for the Premier League side.

The centre-back started his youth career at AS Roma before moving to Sporting in 2021. He returned to Italy when Pescara signed him in January 2023 and then joined Cagliari last summer.

He’s been part of the Cagliari Primavera squad this season and made 27 appearances in all competitions so far. The defender is yet to make his debut for the Serie A side’s first team but has managed to draw Bournemouth’s attention.

It’s claimed Andoni Iraola’s side see the youngster as an ‘ideal’ profile for both present and the future.

TWM add ‘England is calling’ Catena, whose deal lasts until 2026. The Cherries are keen and the report says their efforts to sign him may become concrete in the ‘coming weeks’.

This suggests Bournemouth could take steps to try to sign the young defender in the next window.

Bournemouth have set their sights on him and there’s no mention if the Italian club and/or Catena are open to a transfer.
