Sevilla ‘have not stopped monitoring’ forward Bryan Gil since selling him to Tottenham and current manager Jorge Sampaoli would welcome him back to the club.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who cover Sevilla’s needs for signings today and say Gil would be a welcome one.

They explain that Gil is ‘barely scratching the surface’ at Tottenham and will try to leave on loan in January, having done so last season when he went to Valencia and enjoyed a productive end to the campaign.

For the moment there has been ‘no concrete interest’ from Sevilla but they have not stopped monitoring him since he departed, and he is on their list.

The newspaper adds that current boss Jorge Sampaoli is a big fan of the Spaniard and ‘does not disguise his predilection’ for the player.

He is the kind of ‘electric, quick, dribbling footballer’ that he likes and would provide Sevilla the ‘depth’ that the current side needs.

Sampaoli has already ‘made it clear’ that he wants to strengthen his forward line in January and add someone who can bring ‘unbalanced play on the wing’.

Gil is on the list of options and the Argentine has made it clear he wouldn’t have allowed the player to join Tottenham had he been in charge last year.

He may now ask Monchi to bring him back to the club and a loan deal would fit as Sevilla are not in a position to spend big.

It will, of course, require Spurs to sanction a second loan deal, but with Gil out of the picture under Conte a return to his former club could be one that suits all parties.
