On Saturday, Sky Sports reported both West Ham and Valencia have had £29m offers for Maxi Gomez accepted by his club Celta Vigo.
That appears to be news to those close to the Spanish club.
Faro de Vigo report Celta sources have told them a €32.4m offer from West Ham has been rejected, with the club in no hurry to sell their player.
Whilst they are looking at a transfer for Gomez, it’s thought there’s plenty of time left in the window for them to get the money they want.
As for Valencia, it’s considered unlikely they’ve offered such an amount straight, and Faro de Vigo says they’re trying to use Santi Mina as part of the deal. The striker swap is a possible solution, but Valencia only want to add €10m to the deal, whilst Vigo would be looking for €25m.
Valencia’s local sport newspaper, Super Deporte, reports there’s confidence Gomez will end up at Valencia, with the lure of Champions League football thought to be a big advantage over West Ham.
