Napoli forward Dries Mertens is a ‘top priority’ for Chelsea this summer, and the forward is ‘ready for a new adventure’.
The Belgian striker is out of contract at the Serie A club this summer and has so far not agreed on a deal to extend his stay.
While there was optimism earlier this year that a deal would be signed, that has now changed with the player delaying during the Coronavirus enforced lockdown.
Several clubs have been linked with making a move, chief among them Chelsea, who were close to getting a deal done in January when it appeared Olivier Giroud would leave to join Inter Milan.
That never happened but they’ve retained their interest, and according to Het Laatste Nieuws, he is a ‘top priority’ for manager Frank Lampard.
The 33-year-old is ‘ready for a new adventure’ after seven years in Naples and is assessing his options, with Chelsea, not his only suitors.
Inter Milan are also keen and dream of pairing him with compatriot Romelu Lukaku, while PSG are thinking about a move as well.
