Gustavo Scarpa has now had his final match for Palmeiras before joining Nottingham Forest.

Despite all the stories and quotes we had seen in the Brazilian media last week, they were all about his farewell from the Verdão fans, as that was their last home game of the season. Now as they played Internacional away, that was indeed the final appearance the midfielder had in the green kit.

He had a word with the local media after the match, and obviously talked about his departure to Nottingham Forest. He started by making it clear how happy he was at Palmeiras in recent years.

“I leave this club very grateful for everything I’ve lived. The crowd had a great affection for me, and I leave here fulfilled,” said the midfielder (via Gazeta Esportiva).

Scarpa then pointed out the ‘dream’ he’s pursuing by joining Nottingham Forest, as he always wanted to feature in the Premier League.

“I always wanted to live this experience. As a child, one of my biggest dreams was to play in the Premier League. In the same way that I know that, at Palmeiras, I have matured over the years, I know that I will get there very willing to learn and adapt as necessary.

“I’m very happy because I am going to make this dream come true. Sad to leave behind everything I achieved here at Palmeiras, but happy to leave with open doors. I wish the best for my friends and I am very happy to make this dream come true.”

With the Brazilian season now over, the midfielder is set to have a few days off and then start his move to England. His contract with Palmeiras officially expires at the end of the year, so he should be able to join the Reds as soon as the January window is open.
