As Nottingham Forest seem to be on the verge of completing Nino’s transfer from Fluminense, the Brazilian club’s president has now spoken out on the situation.

Mario Bittencourt was interviewed by Sportv, and admitted that the defender is on his way to European football.

The club chief claimed that he even tried to keep Nino at Fluminense, but it’s really the player’s wish to make the move.

“I said to Nino: ‘If you decide to stay in Brazil, I’ll make every effort, I’ll increase your contract, so you can stay with us for 8, 9, 10 years’. He said he really wants to play in Europe, it’s a dream for him and his family. We may lose them both, but we’re working to replace them,” Mario Bittencourt told Sportv.

This week, Nino was asked about the transfer to Nottingham Forest. He claimed that he knows about the interest and was about to have a meeting with his agents, but also said there’s nothing done for now.

The Tricky Trees are said to be triggering the player’s release clause, worth just €7m, to get the transfer done. Fluminense are expected to hold €20% of a future transfer.

In UOL’s last update, it was said that the parties are just waiting for Nino to sign his contract with Nottingham Forest so the transfer can become official, so it shouldn’t take long until it’s all confirmed.
