When Inter Milan signed Yann Bisseck from Aarhus last summer for €7m, it was clear they saw something in the 23-year-old centre-back that suggested he could be a starter in the future.

The defender has made 18 appearances to date under Simone Inzaghi, and there are some who want him to become a regular instead of seeing the club spend money on players like West Ham United’s Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Giuseppe Bergomi is among those, as the former right-back was asked about the Hammers man in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport as a potential target for the Serie A side.

About the West Ham centre-back, he said: “He doesn’t convince me. If I have to opt for a younger profile to train, I prefer to do it with Bisseck, as he has the right personality and recklessness to play int he middle. Honestly, I don’t know Mavropanos as well as Kim Min-jae or Chris Smalling. I struggle to make a definitive judgment.”

In need of a centre-back in the summer, West Ham decided to spend a chunk of money on the 26-year-old Greece international to take him away from VfB Stuttgart.

A hefty fee of €20m exchanged hands to make the transfer happen, but the defender took some time to convince David Moyes to start, as he only started to appear regularly in the line up in the Premier League from Christmas onwards, perviously used mostly in the Europa League.

Overall, he has made 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal, which came in the 2-0 win over Arsenal on December 28th.
