Djurgardens sporting director Bosse Andersson has thanked West Bromwich Albion for allowing Jonas Olsson to join the Swedish club. It has been announced today the West Brom veteran has signed for Djurgarden a week before the Swedish transfer deadline.
Speaking to Fotboll Direkt, Andersson said the discussions to sign the West Brom defender have been going on for some time, and the Premier League side have been key in the deal getting done.
“It takes time for negotiations. He was contracted, but thanks to West Bromwich for being accommodating and making it possible. A big thank you to West Brom,” said the Djurgarden director.
Only yesterday Andersson confirmed they were in talks with Olsson with regards to a move back to his home country, and in the past 24 hours things progressed.
Olsson spent eight seasons at West Brom after joining the club from Dutch side NEC in 2008. However, the 33-year-old was reduced to handful of game this season by West Brom manager Tony Pulis, which signalled the end of the player’s time at the Hawthorns.
