For months now, Juventus have been linked with a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Raúl Jiménez.
The Serie A side need a new striker to bolster their attack, and while they are looking at a number of options, the Mexican is near the top of their list.
Both Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport touch upon the situation on Thursday as part of an article surrounding Fabio Paratici’s trip to London.
The club’s director has been in England to talk to various clubs about deals, although it wasn’t the most successful.
Gazzetta explain the next few weeks ‘will be decisive to make the chatter of these past few days turn into cheques’, as will a few more phone calls.
One of those will likely be with Jorge Mendes, who holds a lot of power at Wolves and so happens to be Jiménez’s agent.
However, it’s made very clear that a deal for the Mexican could only happen following a big income ‘coming from many sales’, as the current ‘astronomical cost’ currently ‘cannot be reconciled with the current finances’.
That’s the route Corriere go down as well, revealing that ‘contacts with the Portuguese super agent are on the agenda’ but Wolves is a ‘very expensive shop’.
Valued at somewhere around €80-100m, those are ‘impossible figures, even with technical counterparts’.
