Over the past few days, reports coming out of Spain have stated Arsenal’s Héctor Bellerín has emerged as a target for Real Betis.
The La Liga side will need to strengthen the right-back position, with Emerson Royal moving to Barcelona.
On May 27th, ABC de Sevilla and Marca reported that Real Betis have contacted the defender’s agent and the Gunners to take the 26-year-old, who wants to return to Spain in the summer.
Bellerín has a contract until 2023 and it was also explained Manuel Pellegrini’s side are looking to sign him on a loan deal.
Los Verdiblancos director Federico Martínez Feria has given an interview to Onda Cero, and admitted Mikel Arteta’s man could be the right candidate for Real Betis to strengthen the right-back position.
“It is well known that in the previous summer there was a lot of news. In general, if you analyse at the end, the percentage of success is small,” Feria said.
“In Bellerín’s case, he is an excellent player. Arsenal, I understand that they have their interests too, probably to place him [on the market].”
“We are not making, I say emphatically, an effort to bring the player. However, he is, why not, among the positions to be covered and he is a player of a perfect size for us. He could be a candidate, but we are not talking to Arsenal at the moment about Bellerín.”
Earlier on Friday, ABC came out with another report stating that Real Betis are ‘intensifying contacts’ with Bellerín’s surroundings. However, the deal remains complicated because of the ‘high price’ tag set by the Gunners.
