On Thursday, we relayed news from Spain that Real Betis have contacted Héctor Bellerín’s agent and Arsenal over signing the right-back.

The La Liga side will need to bring in a replacement for Emerson Royal, who will move to Barcelona.

ABC de Sevilla now claim Manuel Pellegrini’s side are ‘intensifying contacts’ with the 26-year-old’s entourage.

The defender has better proposals from elsewhere, but his desire to return to Spain is ‘one of the main assets’ Los Verdiblancos have in the operation. His ‘sentimental relationship’ with Real Betis [his father is a supporter of the club] could bring him closer to Benito Villamarín.

Pellegrini’s presence and Europa League football helps the player ‘see the operation with good eyes’. However, the finances needed to seal the deal makes it ‘complicated’ for Real Betis.

Mikel Arteta has not relied much on his compatriot in the last three months, and despite that, he has a ‘high price’ in the market, as he has a contract until 2023.

ABC claim the Spanish club are expected to hold talks with Arsenal shortly. They are of the belief the pressure from Bellerín to choose his next destination could help Real Betis in acquiring his services.

However, it won’t be an ‘easy operation’ because Real Betis cannot afford to meet his ‘high’ asking price. A loan with a ‘favourable purchase option’ seems to be a favoured formula sign Bellerín this summer.

‘In the next few days, news about the future of Bellerín and Betis is expected,’ states ABC.
