Despite really, really, really wanting to stay at Fiorentina beyond the current season, where he is on loan from Everton, it appears Kevin Mirallas’ dreams are going to be crushed.
Recently reiterating his desire to get away from Goodison Park and stay in Italy, the Belgian, according to the Florence edition of Corriere dello Sport, will ‘almost certainly’ be returning to Marco Silva and co. in the summer.
This will add another problem for Everton to solve in the next transfer market, as the hope was for the 31-year-old to do well in Serie A and receive €7m for his services.
Unfortunately, Mirallas never quite broke through under Stefano Pioli, and despite the odd good performance, his age is one of the main reasons why Fiorentina are unwilling to invest.
That, and they’ve already planned to commit upwards of €35m on other transfers for the summer, leaving them little room to spend more unless they make a big sale.
However, their ideal scenario would be to keep all of their stars around for the next campaign in a bid to improve on this season and continue to grow.
Alas, it will likely be without Mirallas.
