The final week of the transfer window is set to be a busy one for Everton who are looking to fill numerous positions before Thursday’s 5pm deadline.
While some moves seem as far off as ever, Djibril Sidibe has been edging closer throughout the week.
The Blues have agreed on a loan deal with Monaco for the French full-back that will see him spend the coming season at Goodison Park, with Everton having the option to make it permanent if he proves a success.
That deal is ready to be finalised and L’Equipe report today that Sidibe is undergoing a medical this afternoon ahead of completing the move.
His medical is considered to be the ‘last hurdle’ he needs to clear, presumably because Everton want to be 100% certain that the 27-year-old has fully overcome a knee injury he suffered before the World Cup last summer.
Sidibe suffered a damaged meniscus in April of last year and avoided surgery on it to make the World Cup squad with France.
However, there have been concerns about it ever since and Everton will want to make sure it’s not an issue before signing off any deal, even if it is just a loan.
