Lazio defender Stefan Radu has told the Italian media he would be happy if Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva joined the club. Leiva has been linked with a move to the Serie A side in recent days, hence Radu being questioned on the possibility.

TMW have reported on comments made Radu after Lazio’s friendly last night in Cadore, when he was quizzed about the Liverpool midfielder: “If Leiva comes we will be happy: there will be plenty of competition, we need it.”

Yesterday we covered reports from Italy that Lazio were interested in signing Leiva this summer as their search for a midfielder continues. It was claimed Lazio are in talks with Liverpool with regards to taking the Brazilian on loan for the season, with a right of redemption.

However, Leiva has just one year left on his contract with the Premier League side, so such a deal wouldn’t make sense given Lazio would be able to sign the player on a free next summer.

The Liverpool player has also been linked with a move to Turkey in recent weeks, and it’s thought that if he can find a deal that’s right for him, the Anfield club won’t stand in the way of a deal.
