In the modern football world, having a good agent is key to success, and in the case of Unai Nuñez, he appears to have chosen wisely.
The Spanish defender has had something of an inconsistent campaign with Athletic Club Bilbao, managing 11 appearances in all competitions and less than 1000 minutes of football in total.
Yet, despite this, talk of a big move away has been ongoing for months, with the likes of West Ham, Everton and even Bayern Munich having been named as suitors at various points.
January came and went without that happening, but that hasn’t stopped the rumours, with AS reporting more interest in him today as they cover his situation.
The newspaper explains that the defender is thinking of moving on in the summer if his situation at the club, i.e. lack of playing time, doesn’t change.
His plan is ‘dodge the renewal’ and he’s ‘awaiting possible offers’ for a move once the summer transfer window comes around.
West Ham are one of them, according to the newspaper, and they even thought about paying his €30m release clause last month before doubts from him and the ‘complexity’ of the situation stopped it happening.
Bayern Munich have also shown interest ‘giving him a taste of what to expect in June’, while other clubs in England and Germany are ‘still on the prowl’.
Everton aren’t explicitly named, but there have been numerous reports about them being keen in the past so it wouldn’t be surprising if they were one of the English clubs.
Alternatively, his agent is using both Everton and West Ham to drum up interest in his player, who is yet to do anything to justify the constant talk about him.
