It seems West Brom are buying all the Sporting players. There won’t be one left.
Just like we’ve covered earlier today, the Portuguese press have been crediting the English papers for recently linking Gelson Martins and Bas Dost to the Baggies, even though these reports actually came from Portugal and Italy.
If you add that to West Brom’s chase for William Carvalho, for whom they’ve bid last summer and Tony Pulis has publicly admitted an interest, then there would be three Sporting players wanted by the English club, which is already hard to believe.
But now there’s someone else for the list. It’s reported by Correio da Manhã, and once again credited to the British press, that West Brom would like to sign 23 year old Ruben Semedo as well.
The problem is that these English reports can’t be found. There were some claims saying Everton and Southampton would be keen on him, but not West Brom.
The defender, who’s been benched a few times this season, has a €45m release clause. Due to his new squad status, he’s not someone who would be impossible to sign.
It would appear someone connected with Sporting or the Portuguese press is throwing West Brom links around like confetti at the moment.
