Despite already having decent first-team options at their disposal, both Watford and Crystal Palace keep getting linked with goalkeepers, especially in Scandinavia.
The Eagles could return for Frederik Rønnow, while Watford have turned their attention to Pontus Dahlberg.
Despite this, the two Premier League sides are also keen on Getafe’s Vicente Guaita, according to Marca, with offers already made for the 30-year-old, who has been ever present for the La Liga side outside of the cups this season.
The Spanish newspaper, looking at where Getafe could end up making deals over the coming weeks, claim both clubs ‘are pushing hard for a deal’ and have made an offer of around €4m for Guaita, with Besiktas also joining the party with an offer of €3m.
Considering Watford already have Daniel Bachmann, Heurelho Gomes and Orestis Karnezis at their disposal this season, bringing in yet another shot stopper, and an experienced one at that, seems strange.
As for Palace, well, it makes more sense considering Julian Speroni is now 38, and the Argentinian is only going to stay at Selhurst Park for so long, with a contract expiring in June 2018.
The fact both sides have put money on the table for Guaita, when his deal with Getafe also comes to an end at the end of the season suggests some urgency behind their desire.
We’ll have to keep an eye on this in the coming days.
