Real Betis defender Chadi Riad is expected to undergo a medical at Crystal Palace today before sealing his move to the club.

That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who say the defender is booked in to undergo the relevant medical examinations with Crystal Palace today before signing his contract at Selhurst Park.

The newspaper reports that Riad will undergo his medical in London after the two sides struck an agreement for a transfer last week.

That deal will be worth €16m in total, with the fee ultimately split between Betis and Barcelona, with the former having paid €3m to sign the defender from the latter on a permanent basis following his loan deal at the club last summer.

Part of that loan agreement is that they owe half of the net profit on the sale of Riad to Crystal Palace to Barcelona, meaning Betis will only make around €6.5m from the deal.

Either way, that is now done and Riad is in London set for a medical before signing his contract as a Palace player. And he is not the only player Crystal Palace are interested in either.

Gazet van Antwerpen report that the Eagles are also showing an interest in Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika.

The newspaper reports that Brugge face a fight to keep some of their better players tis summer, with Igor Thiago already joining Brentford and the likes of Antonio Nusa, Andreas Skov Olsen and Onyedika also being eyed up.

Crystal Palace are one of the sides who have been ‘charmed’ by the latter and his strong performances for the Belgian side this season.

Whether that means they’re ready to move for him is up for debate but he’s another potential target as those in charge at Selhurst Park move quickly to strengthen Oliver Glasner’s squad.
