Over the past week or so, it’s become rather clear that Patrick Vieira wants a new midfielder at Crystal Palace, and his number one target is Cheick Doucouré.
The Mali international is one of the key players at RC Lens these days, forming a great partnership with Seko Fofana at the heart of the Ligue 1 side.
However, these performances have brought interest from elsewhere, with Crystal Palace making the first move to try and sign the footballer.
It was reported the Eagles had already found an agreement with the 22-year-old, but the problem was to convince Lens, who don’t really need to sell, to let him go.
Crystal Palace a transmis une première offre de 17 millions d’euros pour Cheick Doucouré. Le RC Lens demande plus de 25 millions d’euros pour son milieu de terrain qui est déjà d’accord avec le club anglais. #mercato @GoalFrance https://t.co/fKTiFdbJtu

And, according to Goal France’s Marc Mechenoua, their first attempt at doing is some way off what the Ligue 1 club want.
Taking to Twitter, the reporter explained Crystal Palace ‘put forward a first offer of €17m for Cheick Doucouré’, but RC Lens are ‘asking more than €25m for their midfielder, who is already in agreement with the English side’.
While it isn’t said that the offer has been rejected, it seems clear that more money is needed, which Vieira is now going to have to ask for so he can get the player he wants to bolster his squad for next season.
