Bernd Leno is expected to leave Arsenal this summer, having lost his starting place to Aaron Ramsdale.

The 30-year-old made eight appearances for the Gunners last season, with three of his four Premier League starts coming right at the beginning of the season. Once Ramsdale took Leno’s place, it quickly became clear there was little chance of changing Mikel Arteta’s mind.

Leno has a contract with Arsenal which lasts until June 2023, and he’s been attracting interest from multiple clubs, including Fulham. There’s been several Bundesliga sides also linked, but it’s the Fulham interest that the player’s agent is pushing.

Bild reporter Tobi Altschäffl has spoken to Joannis Koukoutrigas, who represents Leno, and the agent was very clear with his comments on interest from Marco Silva’s side, and also his insistence that Leno should be Arsenal’s first choice anyway, over Ramsdale.

Koukoutrigas is quoted as saying: “He is a German national goalkeeper, has always performed well at Arsenal and is an absolute team player. For me personally, Bernd is also the clear No.1 at Arsenal. With all due respect to the competitors.

“Yes, Fulham is trying hard to get Bernd. Very professionally. This is also true for some other clubs and shows his status. But, as I said, for me he is the No.1 at Arsenal and we are therefore also relaxed.”

What the comments regarding Leno being first choice at Arsenal are meant to achieve isn’t clear, although an agent will obviously always pick the side of their client.

A switch to Fulham would allow the goalkeeper to find a new club without too much disruption personally.
