Crystal Palace are reportedly very close to announcing the signing of the Getafe goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.
According to Sport, the player has already flown to England, and should make the transfer official in the ‘next few hours’.
Crystal Palace are expected to pay for Guaita’s release clause, which is €8m, and therefore ‘avoid conflict’ when negotiating a fee with the Spanish side.
Guaita was actually available to sign on a pre-contract, since his current deal with Getafe expires at the end of the season, but it seems Palace wanted to guarantee the signing before any competition shows up.
Sport claims that not only is the transfer fee is good for the Spanish club, but the 31-year-old’s contract was convincing for him to leave his home country for the first time.
Before Crystal Palace showed up, West Ham reportedly made a bid as well, but weren’t up to pay for Guaita’s full release clause.
