Sabah Spor claim Crystal Palace are disappointed they didn’t offer €18m for Besiktas forward Cenk Tosun in the summer.

The Premier League side’s bid of €12m was rejected by Besiktas because the Turkish champions at the time valued Tosun at around €18m, say Sabah.

Despite his club looking to sell him in the last window, Tosun’s fortunes have since change, with the Turkey international impressing for Besiktas this season, especially in the Champions League.

This has led to Premier League heavyweights Tottenham Hotspur showing an interest, and also pushed up the valuation of the forward by €2m.

Crystal Palace’s hierarchy believe if they’d signed Tosun then the club may not in the position they are in for now, given Christian Benteke’s woes in front of goal this season.

The Eagles have picked up just 4 points in their opening 11 matches, and after sacking manager Frank de Boer early in the season they appointed Roy Hodgson.

Tosun recently said he was happy his move to Crystal Palace failed because he now thinks he’s in a much better position. Earlier Turkish claims, including quotes from Tosun himself, suggested it was the timing of Palace’s bid, rather than the amount, which was a problem.

But there’s every chance an extra €6m would have done the trick, even on deadline day/
