Sporx have reported Besiktas are looking to sign Andre Pierre-Gignac from Mexican side Tigres, to replace Premier League linked Cenk Tosun.

Earlier this week we covered the reports from Turkey that Besiktas were looking at two replacements in case Tosun leaves for England in the new year, with Newcastle United still in the mix to sign the 25 year old.

Sporx say Gignac is now the first choice for Besiktas, and despite already having Alvaro Negredo at the club they’ll pursue the Frenchman if Tosun leaves.

Gignac’s contract with Tigres expires in June 2018, but Besiktas would prefer a January transfer as Sporx claim they are preparing for life without Tosun.

Yesterday we reported Newcastle United have this week been informed by Besiktas they will have to offer at least €20m for Tosun, which is a huge increase to what the Premier League side offered in the last window. Newcastle were said to have used the Wyscout Forum, currently ongoing in London, as a chance to talk to Besiktas about Tosun.

Newcastle United tabled a bid of £8m in the summer, but this was rejected instantly by the Turkish champions. Despite their offer being turned down, Newcastle United have remained interested in Tosun, and could make another move for the player in the next window.

Besiktas identifying players, and those being named, is yet another hint the move could happen in January.
