Lazio midfielder Daichi Kamada is ‘increasingly closer’ to joining Crystal Palace after deciding to turn down a renewal at the Italian side.

That’s according to Tuttosport, who report that the Japanese international has been offered a contract worth €5m per year by Crystal Palace.

Reports yesterday indicated that Kamada was getting closer to reuniting with Oliver Glasner, who he worked under at Eintracht Frankfurt, after letting an option to extend his deal at Lazio expire on Friday.

That saw him and his agents being accused of ‘extortion’ by Lazio director Angelo Fabiani, who had been left unimpressed by how negotiations had gone with the player.

Those same reports indicated he had been offered a big deal by Crystal Palace and Tuttosport now provide the details.

They say Crystal Palace are ‘increasingly closer’ to getting their man and have an agreement in principle with him on a three-year deal worth €5m per year. That’s €104,000 per week.

The situation has left Lazio frustrated and already irritated manager Igor Tudor, who could now leave because of the matter as he had planned for the player to be key moving forwards.
