There was once a time when Ante Coric was linked with a move to Manchester City.
The now 20-year-old used to be regarded as one of the most talented youngsters in Europe, and was expected to follow in the footsteps of Luka Modric, taking the world by storm with a successful move to the Premier League.
Unfortunately, that never happened, and Coric is still at Dinamo Zagreb, who are now willing to let him go for as little as €10m.
Večernji in Croatia report the youngster has failed to adapt to the demands of modern football, and is trying to rely too much on his natural ability, rarely putting the effort in to improve.
His inability to put the effort in in training caused him to be dropped by his manager, and the wonderkid has only started 19 of a potential 32 league games, which, for someone as talented as him, isn’t exactly anything to be pleased about.
Often taken off midway through the second half of games, a transfer to Manchester City to play under Pep Guardiola seems very unlikely.
After all, if he cannot make it at Dinamo Zagreb, there is little to suggest he would be a hit in England, especially at the Etihad where quality isn’t exactly lacking in his position.
Večernji explain Coric needs to take a long look at himself and imitate the likes of the aforementioned Modric and their compatriot Mario Mandzukic, who are both currently at the top of their game.
Only then will he be able to get that big European move he feels his talent deserves.
