Sporx have claimed Fenerbahçe are looking at alternatives because they’re not going to sign Sunderland attacker Jeremain Lens. The Sunderland loanee has enjoyed an impressive season with Fenerbahçe, scoring 18 goals in 33 appearances for the club.
Sunderland want a deal totalling €15m, which is something the Turkish club can’t, and won’t, pay. Sporx say Fenerbahçe have told Sunderland they are not considering signing Lens permanently right now due to the amount.
Fenerbahçe are subsequently looking at other options and the Turkish club are seriously interested in Shaktar’s Brazilian winger Taison as a replacement for Lens. Fenerbahçe are reportedly in discussions with Taison and given his contract status (expires in 2018 January), he’s a likelier target.
After Sunderland’s relegation to the Championship it’s unlikely Lens will return to the club. Interest in the Dutchman could be high considering his performances in Turkey, and Sunderland will likely prefer a permanent transfer to a loan.
