Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo is also a celebrity at the national team, where they’re all happy with the recent success he’s been having.
Now that the 21-year-old is at the national team camp, ESPN took the chance to feature an interview with him on SportsCenter, mostly speaking of his season in the Premier League.
Asked about his objectives, Caicedo claimed to be working to conquer big things with Brighton.
“Today I’m focused on Brighton, we’re giving it our all in every training session and every game. We’ve committed ourselves to leaving the team in the Champions League, and the truth is we’re on the right track,” Caicedo told ESPN.
On Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, Caicedo talked about the difficulty in adapting to his game.
“It’s always going to be a bit difficult to adapt, because we were used to a different style of play. Today we are happy to have De Zerbi because he has helped us dream big. In each game, in each training session, he corrects me, tells me that that’s going to help me be a top player.”
Having Ecuadorian teammates Pervis Estupiñán and Jeremy Sarmiento at ‘Ecuabrighton’, he mentioned how good it is to have a couple of compatriots at his side day-to-day.
“It makes us very happy that they can call it that, because there are three Ecuadorians who are giving everything. We dreamed from a very young age to leave Ecuador to the top, we are achieving it. We are here, working hard, so that the whole world knows that Ecuador has great potential.”
There are also other South Americans in the squad, including Alexis Mac Allister, and Caicedo said he has a good relationship with them.
“The relationship is very good, always speaking in Spanish, in the dressing room, in restaurants. We know how to play ten-ball, with Julio Enciso, we are the best. We bet who makes the most free-kicks, and whoever loses washes the boots, we have a lot of fun, there’s always a smile
“I really enjoy Alex, he’s a star. We’ve both understood each other very well, we have a very good relationship, and I’m happy to have him as a partner, and that we can show our rivals that we’re a very good duo.”
Ecuador are facing Australia in two friendlies: one on Friday and the next on Tuesday. The Brighton players then head back to England, where they prepare to be in action again versus Brentford on the 1st of April.
