Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is set to be Brazil’s captain in their upcoming games.
As reported by Globo Esporte, the 31-year-old was given the armband by manager Ramon Menezes, who is caretaker following the departure of Tite after the World Cup.
Casemiro had already been Brazil’s captain a few times, but never held the position through a major tournament.
Only ten players who had been at the World Cup were called-up for the current international break, and Casemiro is one of them.
Earlier on Wednesday, outlet UOL had already featured a piece explaining how the midfielder has been ‘reinforcing his leadership’ at a time when the national team don’t have a manager.
There, it was pointed out that Casemiro is having a ‘great season’ at Manchester United, and at the national team he handles the arrival of new players very well, often seen sitting at the end of the table and in charge of the pranks towards newcomers.
