Thrown on by Antonio Conte for the last few seconds of the game against Liverpool on Tuesday, Michy Batshuayi isn’t exactly living the dream at Stamford Bridge these days.
The 23-year-old, who joined Chelsea in the summer for around €40m, has totalled 90 minutes of Premier League football this season, with his longest appearance being a 19 minute cameo in the the Blues’ 3-0 loss to Arsenal back in September.
Considering the other 14 appearances make up the remaining 71 minutes, it’s clear to see Antonio Conte doesn’t fully trust the Belgian striker, who scored 33 goals in 78 appearances for Marseille during his two seasons there.
Yesterday, we relayed words from former Belgium international Marc Degryse, who told Play Sports the young forward should ask to leave.
Well, on the same show, Belgian football analyst Jan Mulder gave his two cents on the situation, relayed by Walfoot, and his opinion was even stronger.
He said: “What the manager is doing is shameful. To bring someone on for a second for nothing. Someone should go complain to the Association Footballers’ Union that what the employer is doing is humiliation. Really, I don’t accept that, and it’s not the first time either.”
So far, the player hasn’t actually had anything bad to say about his time at Chelsea, but if things continue as they are, with Batshuayi only being trusted in the cups, things might get vocal really soon.
