On December 20th, RMC Sport reported that Paris Saint-Germain have approached Abdoulaye Doucoure’s entourage and the Watford midfielder is ‘interested’ in the Ligue 1 winners’ project.
It was also mentioned that PSG sporting director Antero Henrique is looking at several other targets to strengthen his side’s midfield.
Friday’s edition of L’Equipe claims Everton’s Idrissa Gueye has been ‘targeted’ by PSG in the winter market and ‘contacts exists’ between the Toffees player’s representatives and the sporting leaders of the French club.
It’s stated the Senegalese international’s statistics are close to that of Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, who had long been on the radar of PSG before he signed a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
Since moving to England from Lille in 2015, the 29-year-old has played regularly in the Premier League and after spending one season at Aston Villa, the Merseyside club secured his services in 2016.
Despite several managerial changes at Goodison Park, Gueye has continued to be a key player for Everton and under Marco Silva has started in 15 league matches this season.
The midfielder has experience of playing in the French league, but the only downside of PSG signing the Merseyside club’s midfielder is that he does not have the experience of playing regularly in the Champions League.
Putting all of that to one side, the task of convincing Everton is the highest hurdle.
