Nottingham Forest took Keylor Navas on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January after he struggled for regular game time at the Ligue 1 side in the first half of this season.
The 36-year-old’s decision to join the Tricky Trees has paid off as he’s been a regular for them this year. His current situation at the Premier League side didn’t stop him from expressing his desire to play for Mexican side Club América earlier this week.
The Nottingham Forest stopper has received encouragement after Club América manager Fernando Ortiz opened the door for him to join them. The coach’s comments are relayed by Record in Mexico.
Steve Cooper’s side don’t have an option or obligation to make the Costa Rican’s loan deal permanent. As it stands, the stopper will have to return to PSG in the summer, where he has a contract until 2024.
Navas has won top honours with Real Madrid and PSG over the past few years. His situation has now changed at Nottingham Forest, where he’s fighting to help them avoid relegation.
The Tricky Trees are 18th in the table and the South American has admitted this hasn’t changed his approach.
“It doesn’t change much because when you had to fight for a title you had to be psyched up to win; to give my best and that is the way I got used to playing,” Navas told Telemundo, relayed by Radio Colombia.
“Regardless of the fact that the objective is a little different, the way of giving everything has not changed and I don’t think it will change.”
