Leeds United have already started shaping their squad for the new campaign, and are still looking to bring in new faces to the club.
Two days ago, there were claims from England that Leeds ‘want’ Molde star Fredrik Aursnes, who would cost around £5m this summer. It was also stated Toulouse are interested in the midfielder.
Ole Erik Stavrum, the Norwegian side’s director, has since told VG there has been no contact between Molde and Marcelo Bielsa’s club for the 24-year-old.
On Leeds’ reported interest in Aursnes, Stavrum said: “It is completely unknown to us.”
“I’ve got it from the media, but I don’t know anything, to be honest. I haven’t heard anything about this, really, so there’s not much more to say,” Aursnes said.
Toulouse have been relegated from Ligue 1 and the Norwegian admitted the French club’s proposal wasn’t convincing for him.
“Yes, as of now, it’s a bit like [not happy with Toulouse’s offer] that. That we don’t quite agree. We’ll see how willing they are,” he added.
“As of now, it’s a no [transfer to Toulouse]… I do not know if it is final, or if Jim [Solbakken, agent] continues to negotiate. I do not know if it is something to move on, or if it is finished. But right now, it does not look like it will happen.”
Aursnes has ruled out a move to Toulouse for the time being and this would give Leeds an advantage in completing his signing, if they are genuinely keen on landing the midfielder this summer.
