Telefoot report the ‘coming hours’ could be ‘hectic’ with PSG continuing to look for another defensive midfielder, and clubs also eyeing players from the French side.
On Sunday, they state Everton want to sign Thomas Meunier, and it’s believed this is a transfer which could work in parallel with Idrissa Gueye potentially moving to the French champions.
The idea of an exchange of the players ‘remains possible’ but it’s explained that PSG would want Gueye and money on top to part with the Belgian fullback.
That could be a bargaining position.
In April of this year, the 27 year old said: “I do not ask too much for now, what I want is to play football. If I have to go down a notch to be able to be on the pitch, I’ll do it. We will see how it goes, I have two more years in Paris, my goal is to stay in. I like it a lot, just like my family. The club did not contact me, it’s hard to predict.
“I could aim at a club like Everton, Valencia or Dortmund. Michy Batshuayi did really well going there, the fun is playing football, and that’s the only thing I miss right now.”
Meunier has started 12 Ligue 1 games and 5 in the Champions League so far this season. He’s certainly involved and used under Thomas Tuchel but there’s long been a feeling that PSG are constantly looking to move on from the player.
