Just when Tottenham may have been getting excited about the potential arrival of Antonio Nusa, here’s a nice dose of cold water.

Journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen covers the situation around the youngster today and pulls back on the growing excitement, insisting talks are only ‘exploratory’ at this moment in time.

Nusa is one of the rising stars of European football, having impressed for Brugge in Belgium and Europe since joining from Stabaek in August 2021.

He’s been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League since, with Chelsea making a move for him in the summer but seeing their efforts rebuffed by the player and his agent.

The rumours have started again this month but this time it is Tottenham at the front of the queue, with reports this week pushing them and talks between the two clubs.

A report earlier today from Belgium tried to temper expectations and insisted talks between Tottenham and Brugge had only just started and no official bid had been made.

Calcoen backs this up, explaining that there is a ‘nuance’ to the reports and that is the talks are only ‘exploratory conversations’ at this moment in time.

He insists Spurs have not yet made an offer for the youngster and there are still other candidates in the mix for him.

It seems, then, the freshest slant from Belgium is one of caution, even if its widely accepted Tottenham are keen.
